What is BUCA?
British Universities’s China Association is a non-profit, unincorporated professional association formed by active professionals at British University and higher education sector, whose primary responsibilities include student recruitment and wider engagement within China.
What does BUCA do?
BUCA brings international education professionals into dialogues with each other, their partners and organisations that promote international education within UK and China. BUCA aims to function in the following areas to support its members to:
- Facilitate collaborations related to UK-China international education through making effective suggestions to relevant authorities at all levels
- Share accurate market insights, trends and practice from various aspects
- Offer personal career development training opportunities
BUCA committee actively and continuously communicate with senior level staff of government, higher education institutions and education support organisations to create a platform supporting all members with interests and focus on international education between UK and China.
How to become a BUCA member?
An online member application form has to be completed and sent to
BUCA by email. Membership applies to individuals only and requires annual renewal. It is welcome to apply for multiple members from the same organisation/institution but each membership fee covers one member only. If a member left his/her current employer or became unemployed during the academic year, his/her membership will remain unchanged till the end of the academic year. The member should notify BUCA his/her updated employment status.

- Regular surveys and reports on relevant and latest events occurred in the sector or market;
- Exclusive online and offline promotional activities for British universities and higher education sector within China

What is the membership fee and how to pay?
The annual membership fee is £200.00. An invoice will be sent to members by email. The fee covers from the period from 1st September of each year till the 31st August of the following year. If the application is received during the academic year, membership fee is applicable as follows:
- £200 if remaining period is greater than 6 months
- £100 if remaining period is less than 6 months
What does the membership fee cover?
- Annual BUCA members conference
- Annual BUCA members only recruitment events
- BUCA members exclusive sessions and personal development training
- Exclusive BUCA recruitment fairs for UK institutions/organisations represented by BUCA members free of charge (or discounted rate if third parties involved).
- Other BUCA exclusive marketing opportunities (free or discounted rate)
Am I eligible for the membership?
A potential member will have been working in UK education sectors (such as: recruitment agents, universities, schools etc.) for more than 3 years;
A reference letter is required from an existing BUCA member.
Can I have the membership transfer to my colleague if I leave my current position?
BUCA membership is applied to individuals only. Therefore it is not transferable.
